Queensland wedding venues, through a photographer's eyes

Choosing a venue? Here's what I look at when I walk in with a camera.

Quick honesty first. I haven't visited any Queensland venues yet. I arrive in November 2026, and that's when the visits start. My notes go up here, one venue at a time.

What I look for in a venue

The light
Big windows, open sides, somewhere bright for the ceremony. Light does more for your photos than any prop. Ask your venue for photos taken at the same time of year as your wedding.
Room for the dance floor
I need space to move around you without bumping your aunt. If the dance floor is squeezed in between tables, the photos feel squeezed too.
A real rain plan
Not “we’ll see on the day”. A covered spot that you’d actually be happy to get married in. Have a look at it before you sign anything.
Getting-ready rooms
Some daylight, a bit of space, not too much clutter. This is where the nerves, the giggles and the first happy tears happen. It’s worth a good room.
Golden hour spots
That last hour before sunset is the softest light of the day. I want somewhere a short walk away. I steal you for ten minutes, then you’re straight back at your party.

Where I'll be heading

I cover all of Queensland, mainly:

  • Brisbane and around
  • The Gold Coast, beach and hinterland
  • The Sunshine Coast, Noosa, Maleny and the hinterland
  • The Scenic Rim

I'll start with the venues you ask me about most. Each visit becomes a blog post: the light, the best spots, and what to know before you book.

Coming as I visit

Nothing here yet. That's on purpose. I'd rather show you a venue I've stood in than tell you about one I've only seen online.

Got a venue you'd like me to look at first? Tell me. I mean it.

Got a venue in mind?

Tell me where you're getting married and your date. I'll let you know if I'm free, and I might pop out to see it first.
